The electrons oscillate coherently under irradiation by light in the visible and near-IR regions of the electromagnetic spectrum. These coherent oscillations are known as local surface plasmon resonances. WebDSTMS crystals exhibit a very large nonlinear activity with a nonlinear optical coefficient d 111 = 214 ± 20 pm V. Phase-matching curves determined from our optical data showed that parametric oscillation can be achieved in the wavelength range from to 1 to 2.2 μ m with effective nonlinear optical coefficients larger than 25 pm V.
